OKAN stands for: “OnthaalKlas Anderstalige Nieuwkomers”.
In the OKAN class, you will learn the Dutch language. This will help you on your journey to regular education or a follow-up path. Together, at your tempo, we will work on your future.
Who is it for?
- You are between 12 and 18 years old.
- You have been living in Belgium for less than 1 year.
- You have chosen to follow Dutch-language education but do not yet have sufficient command of the Dutch language.
Program
Classes start at 8:25 am and end at 2:30 pm. On Wednesdays, classes end at 12 noon.
You will receive 22 hours of Dutch, 2 hours of sports, 2 hours of maths and 2 hours of religious education per week.

Registration
You can enrol at any time throughout the school year. Come and visit our school with your parents, guardian or supervisor and register!
What should you bring?
- Identity card
- An international travel pass
- The document annexe 26
- Registration document in the population register
- Diplomas and certificates of education you gained in your home country
- Any medical information from your home country (e.g. vaccination card)
